A Place Of Abundance

The time that you waited for...had finally come. And there was no one or nothing that could’ve told you otherwise. You waited for that moment and knew without a shadow of a doubt that it was your moment.

Everything that the Lord said would happen, happened. You took Him at his word. You trusted Him with everything that you had. You walked by faith with nothing but the word of the Lord.

Every vision confirmed - that was it. Every dream confirmed - that was it. Every prophetic word of the Lord confirmed - that was it. There was no mistaking – that was it!

So you took that leap of faith and walked out on nothing towards the promise.

And true to His word, He sustained you. The very thing that you had been hoping for, praying for, believing for was happening. The promise had come to pass. You realized your timing was perfect – that was the time to trust Him. If you had never trusted Him before, you knew that was the time to do it.

How awesome it was to live the dream; to see the vision right before your very eyes.

You did things that you had never done before. You birth things that had never been birth before. It was truly amazing to have been in the place that you were in. After all, you had taken everything that you had and threw caution to the wind. And it paid off.

That is…until the brook started drying up and there was no rain. (1 Kings 17)

The dream that you thought was “it” was somehow turning into a nightmare. Everything started to go horribly wrong. And you’re now faced with the most devastating situation that you have ever faced. How is that possible? How could the Lord go back on His word? After you had been obedient to His command! How could He allow that to happen; especially after you gave up everything that you had…for Him!

You did what He told you to do.

You thought that was it!

You had experienced one of the absolute highest moments in your life.

You thought that your moment to shine had come.

And now you are faced with going back to where you started from; back to the beginning. Somehow you’re starting over. You have nothing because you gave it all up…for this!

And now you’ve found yourself in a dry place.

You’re faced with disappointment, discouragement, fear, worry, and doubt.

In short, this was not how it was supposed to happen; this was not how it was supposed to end.

Often times because we’re so focused on how things didn’t go the way we planned, we miss what the Lord is doing in our lives. Yes, we thought that was it, but just because it didn’t pan out the way we thought it should have, doesn’t mean that “that wasn’t it!” It’s just not the way you planned it.

That “WAS IT” for what the LORD planned. Every promise that He made came to pass – for that season.

Just because you’re in a dry season doesn’t mean the Lord isn’t with you. And it doesn’t mean that the promises He made didn’t come to pass. In fact, being in the dry place means that NOW the Lord is getting ready to lead you to a place where there is an abundance of rain.

He’s taking you to another level of blessings.

However, you’ve got to make sure you don’t miss what He’s doing because you’re so focused on how things should’ve happened.

Let’s take Elijah for example in 1 Kings 17: After declaring there would be no rain for three and a half years, the Lord led him to the brook to be fed by the ravens and so he could drink from the brook.

There is a brook in your dry place.

So while you’re in a dry place, God has provided for you everything that you need. He would not leave you lack; wanting nothing. You just have to be obedient to what He’s telling you to do in order for Him to sustain you.

When the brook dried up, because there wasn’t any rain, the Lord led Elijah to Zarephath where He commanded a widow woman to take care of him. Because of Elijah’s obedience to the Lord’s command, he was in a place where the jar of flour would not be used up and the jug of oil would not run dry - a place of abundance.

In other words the Lord provided for him; the Lord took care of him. He had more than enough.

And He’ll do the same for you.

So while you may have found yourself in a dry place, pay attention, be obedient to what the Lord is commanding you to do. He’s leading you to a place of abundance.

He’s calling you out of your dry place.

What we have to understand is that there is no one place where the Lord sustains us. We can’t stay in the place that we’re in and think that “this is it!” There is no one way that the Lord sustains us. We can’t be so focused on how we think things should happen and think “this is it!” We have to always be open and sensitive to the Lord’s prompting and leading, so that He can continuously lead us to a place of abundance.

For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.’ (1 Kings 17:14 NIV)

It's about to rain.

This is the will of God concerning you.
