Game Changer

Somehow we’ve got it all wrong. We think the road to success is already paved. Somehow we think that we’re going to just slide right into home plate. We’ve forgotten that we have to first get past first, second, and third base.

Okay, to be fair, unfortunately, that’s what I thought.

And to “bring it home,” I thought this would be the case because I “trusted the Lord.” Only to find that’s not the case at all.

How many of us think that just because we “trust the Lord” that things should be or will be easy?

Success, like everything else, has to be built from the ground up; starting with the foundation.

And just being able to get a good “hit” to even get on base requires you to do your due diligence. You’ve got to do the work.

I’m reminded of being on the highest high that I had experienced in a long time (and I do mean “a long time”). I mean, everything that could go right was going right; hit after hit after hit. And as far as I was concerned this was going to be a “home run” – I was getting ready to do the very thing that I had dreamed of doing. The door had been opened and I was getting ready to walk in.

I received a prophetic word: “This is a new season of increase and promotion…” The timing was perfect. It was the bottom of the ninth inning, the struggle was about to be over.

Then, all of a sudden, it appeared that I had “struck out.” I could hear all the voices coming from the stand: “I told you so.” “Boooo.” “I knew you wouldn’t make it.” And the cheers from those who would be happy to see me fail was deafening.

All of a sudden, I found myself going back into the dugout wondering what happened? And was now faced with the biggest challenge, obstacle that I had every faced. That was supposed to be a home run! How is this possible? I kept asking myself, especially after I had experienced one of the highest highs that I’d ever experienced. How is this possible?

Surprisingly, in the midst of it all, in the locker room, there was a peace that kept me calm, so I wasn’t “concerned,” I wasn’t “worried.” Somehow I knew the game wasn’t over. In my spirit I knew that it wasn’t a “strike out;” it wasn’t a “setback,” but rather there was an opportunity; what opportunity? I didn’t know.

So my prayer was, “Lord, open my eyes so that I can see the opportunity.” And before I knew anything, the opportunities were before me. And I quickly began to see that the “biggest challenge” that was before me was actually my “greatest opportunity” to take the business to the next level.

So often we see what appears to be a “strike out” as a setback; game over. And we can’t help but experience great disappointment because we didn’t get the “home run” that we were expecting. But what appears to be “game over” is really an opportunity for you to refocus, progress – look for ways to improve; get better and take your “game” to the next level.

The road to success isn’t paved based on faith alone; faith without works is just sitting in the dugout.

We succeed, we get to see the opportunities, and we get to take our game to the next level because we trust the Lord…and…do the work.

There aren’t any “strike outs” in Him. Seeing the opportunity to take your game to the next level is a “home run!”

This is a new season of increase and promotion!

This is the will of God concerning you.
